I.R.I.S. NEW INTERMODAL LOGISTIC SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR BUSINESS

I.R.I.S. is a three-year project being carried out thanks to the contribution of the Marco Polo I program for the development of intermodality and commercial traffic between Italy and Romania.

The I.R.I.S. project run by a Consortium of five partners combines their expertise and multi-disciplinary skills in the transport sector at the international level.

Since April 2009, in order to improve efficiency so as to achieve adequate economies of scale and purpose, the I.R.I.S. Project has been managed by a 'joint venture' formed by Pol-Rail and Eurolog which aims to provide high-added-value integrated logistic services such as the hire of rail wagons, terminal and last-mile activities, both at the place of origin and destination.

The main targets of I.R.I.S. services are the three 'Es': economical, ecological, efficient.

By offering scheduled block trains along a route departing from Piacenza Intermodale ( Italy ) and reaching the Oradea , Curtici-Arad and Berceni-Bucharest terminals ( Romania ), I.R.I.S. focus on shifting a substantial volume of freight from road to rail and cut logistic costs as a whole, thus helping to improve efficiency.
